Rob van den Boomen has over 30 years of professional experience concerning coastal, urban and rural integrated water management. He worked on many projects as senior consultant, project manager or project director on topics of coastal engineering (water and land management), urban and rural flood management and flood control, river basin management and water resources management. Rob has a degree in Environmental engineering from the Netherlands and is registered/certified at Dubai Municipality to execute projects for Environmental Impact Assessment Summary (EIAS).
Rob worked in many countries. For example UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Bhutan, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Turkey, Macedonia, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda, South-Sudan and Kazakhstan. Currently, based in Dubai as managing director of Witteveen+Bos EMEA DMCC, he is in charge of a team of engineers/experts working on projects related to coastal / port engineering, water management, water supply, waste water treatment, environmental studies and landscape design.
Examples of projects Rob worked on are the design of the Waste Water Masterplan for Khalifa Port (Abu Dhabi), the Masterplan North extension of the Port of Sohar (Oman), the development of a Ship Build and Repair Yard in Kazakhstan and a masterplan for the city of Jakarta to protect this sinking city from flooding from rivers and sea.
In the UAE, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Rob is furthermore active in projects related to water supply systems (network and treatment), water resources analysis (ground and surface water), waste water treatment (process optimization) and urban development.
